SHALOM, SHALOM
JUNE 2022
Gabriel, a young Jewish man, works the night shift at a Superette alongside his close friend, Ismael. Together they share in their love for art, an activity that binds their friendship with unseen threads. Set in a world seemingly far removed from politics both here and abroad, the cracks begin to widen as Ismael’s anti-Semitic beliefs are revealed, and Gabriel’s lack of courage and fear of exposure prevents them from truly moving forward.
Where do Ismael’s beliefs come from, and can he overcome them? How will Gabriel weigh up the cost of losing his job and friendship, compared to the dignity he feels as a Jew?
